Now it's time to pray

After you have read about God's glory, The Church, and God's people the next step is to pray and meditate on Scripture.

Prayer Guide

Start a conversation.

After you have prayed it is time to first have a conversation with the senior pastor and then together with other staff members.

1st Conversation

  1. Begin with naming the positive ways your congregation is carrying out ministry and mission
  2. Ask about what the pastor/others have seen as some of the congregations high points in the past 5 years
  3. Give your pastor a Vibrant Congregation’s brochure (available by emailing us at info@VibrantCongregations.org). Walk through the brochure with the pastor
  4. Tell about your experience with taking the survey, prayer and using the Vibrant Congregation resources.
  5. Encourage your pastor to take the survey and use the Prayer Guide.
  6. Encourage your pastor to become more acquainted by visiting Vibrant Congregations website
  7. Ask to set up a second conversation soon.
  8. Thank him/her for their time and interest.

2nd Conversation

  1. Begin by telling what you discerned in your time of prayer. Ask your pastor what he/she discerned in his/her time of prayer.
  2. Ask what your pastors dreams and hopes are for your church’s ministry and mission
  3. Discern together if you should bring this to the entire staff team
    1. Offer to make a direct connection with Vibrant Congregations to get more information or to set up a meeting with Vibrant Congregations
    2. Offer to learn more about the “Vibrancy Pathway” that churches use to discern their best way forward
  4. Thank your pastor for his/her time and interest.

3rd Conversation

(typically led by pastor)

  1. Begin with naming the positive ways your congregation is carrying out ministry and mission
  2. Ask about what the staff has seen as some of the congregations high points in the past 5 years
  3. Give the staff a Vibrant Congregation’s brochure (available by emailing us at info@VibrantCongregations.org). Walk through the brochure with the them.
  4. Tell about your experience with taking the survey, prayer and using the Vibrant Congregations resources.
  5. Encourage the staff to take the survey and pray.
  6. Encourage the staff to become more acquainted with Vibrant Congregations by visiting the website.
  7. Ask to set up a second conversation soon.
  8. Thank everyone for their time and interest

4th Conversation

(typically led by pastor)

  1. Begin asking what staff members discerned in their time of prayer using the Vibrant Congregation materials.
  2. Share with the staff what you discerned in your time of prayer
  3. Ask what the staff’s dreams and hopes are for your church’s ministry and mission
  4. Discern together if you should bring working with Vibrant Congregation to the council
    1. Ask what else you need to know about or from Vibrant congregations to make a good proposal to council.
    2. Ask what staff members would like to help to create this proposal.
    3. Connect with Vibrant Congregations before the proposal goes to council to have any questions answered (you can find ways to connect by scrolling down this page).
  5. Thank the staff for their time and interest.
